north of Damascus - 200 km from the Hotel.
Location
A legend states that the
convent of Seidnaya was founded by Justinian. A Greek Orthodox chapel
dedicated to Virgin Mary and a shrine where a rare icon is kept are
the goal of visitors who offer votive sheets of silver representing
hands and feet hanged on the wall of the shrine. Paintings and icons
are of a very particular character. |
