Location
Approx. 35 km to the
east of Latakia -185 km from the Hotel.
History
The castle represents
the flamboyance of the crusaders
enterprise in a raw and beautiful location. The first
fortification was the work of the Phoenicians . The
substantial defensive work was begun by the Byzantines in 975 A.D.,
continued to be under the domain of Saone
family until it fell to Saladin and his son Zaher-Ghazi
in 1188.
