Name

Tartous is a distortion of the original name Anti-Aradus: Aradus was the major Pheonician stronghold (today Arwad). The mainland was named after the island “opposite Aradus”

Location

Approx. 95 km to the west of Homs - 60 km to the west of the Hotel.

Visit

Syria’s second port. The old Fortified island of Arwad is just offshore.  The Mediterranean Sea offers a nice sandy beach, and a chance to experience the  traditional  fishing, boat building and  seafood  restaurants. Not to be missed the  12th  century  cathedral  and  the

museum,  which contains artifacts from Ras Shamra, Arwad, and Amrit.
